Things to do in Varkala

If you’re an adventure junkie, you should consider surfing and stand-up paddle. Varkala is also known as the SURFING capital of India for its perfect waves and surfing schools. Never miss sunsets in Varkala, they are the best sunsets I have ever seen. Grab a cup of coffee and wait for sunsets at Taco 82, situated right on the beach.

If you love calm beach holidays, walk on the Black Beach till dusk and if you’re lucky, you might also experience some phytoplankton dancing on the shores. Do not miss Kappil Beach, as you cross a bridge that has backwaters on one side and Kappil Beach on the other; making it an ideal place to witness sunset. You will also find water sports happening here, apart from the evening chowpatty.

What to Eat?

For cafe hopping, you should check out North Cliff cafes such as Bindus, Rabbit Hole, Darjeeling Cafe and Taco 82. But if you want some quaint time, South Cliff is for you and Trip is Life Cafe is the ultimate choice. Finding vegetarian meals on the Mallu Land is quite tough, but with sadhya meals you can satisfy your appetite. There is a small local restaurant outside The Janardanaswamy Temple and offers hearty vegetarian meals. Party lovers might love Sandy Bay Cafe for its music and evening vibes.
